Hire Local Students

Your wedding entertainment can sill be enjoyable and of good quality if you hire students from the nearby universities and schools. They would be grateful for the exposure and the extra cash. Just remember to assure them that they can use you as a reference for future prospective clients or jobs. Ask your friends, family and church members if they know a talented young student musician. Go to your local university’s stage productions and performances to find good talent.

Consider not Having a Bar

The largest cost for a wedding is the reception and one of the major costs of the wedding reception is the bar. Unless you want the guests to pay, opting to leave out the bar will shave a huge chunk off your reception costs. Opt for a sparkling beverage or some other fancy drink instead. If you have to have the real thing, have servers pour one-time drinks for the toast. That way you won’t have guests returning to the bar repeatedly.

Wedding Packages can Save a Bundle

Wedding packages can save a bundle when you are strapped for cash. If you are not the picky type, this may be the route to go. There are wedding packages for destination weddings from the Florida Keys to Hawaii that are simple yet elegant. The lowest I’ve seen is a beach ceremony for $500 with no frills or decoration! Talk about frugal!

Cruise ships have wedding packages wherein they plan everything for you and can range from $1500 to $3000. Cruise ship weddings can be just as beautiful and memorable as a church wedding, yet the down side is that your choices are limited. Again if you are the non-picky type gal or guy, this is the way to go. Be sure to ask if wedding photos are included, how many photos are included and to see the photographers work.
