Inexpensive Wedding Photography - Part 2

Ohh, did I mention that you should only hire someone who has an assistant? Please, don’t try to cut costs by hiring a lone photographer. Hiring a photographer with assistant helps ensure that most of your precious moments are captured. There are some things that are not worth cutting costs with. Now, if your wedding is a very quick, small, ceremony, then that may be another story altogether.

A way to save costs on wedding photography is to hire someone who spouse or apprentice is the assistant. The obvious cost savings come from the fact that you are not paying for an extra person in most cases. If you do pay, is less likely you will have to pay as much.

Inexpensive Wedding Photography

black and white wedding photograph Your wedding photographer could be the most important person on your wedding vendor list. He or she has only one chance to capture the moment. You want to get the professional quality, but I bet you don’t want to pay the professional quality price. High quality wedding photographs can cost over $3,000. I know some weddings that have cost less. So what can you do to ease the pain a little?

Look for someone that works out of his or her home. Paying rent on a studio will drive up costs, because he won’t have to pay studio rent and maintenance.

Go for the middle of the road professional and hire a student of photography from your local university or vocational school. You’ll be hiring someone who has some professional training, but who is not as expensive as a professional wedding photographer. You may also find that some students have had experience with shooting weddings in the past. Don’t be afraid to ask for references from them.
Find someone who is willing to negotiate for the negatives. This will save you reprint costs in the long run. This is especially true if you have a lot of relatives wanting wedding pictures.

Don’t go for the wedding photographer with the gigantic ad in the newspaper. The money spent on the newspaper ad may be good for the newpaper, but bad for your pocket. They have to cover that cost somehow. Smaller more modest ads are good.
