Bridal Shops From Hell Part 2
Bridal shops are not all bad, but you would think that fraud and deceit would not be so prevalent in an industry where they are already making billions. Unfortunately, there are so many scams out there, that it is hard to keep up. But there is no excuse to not be aware of the most obvious scams and frauds….Here we go…
Where’s The Label?
Some bridal shops will go all out to not give you the name of the manufacturer of the bridal gown. Why? This keeps the bride from shopping around for the same dress and makes it easier to sell you a cheap knock-off. Before you buy a dres, make sure you take a lookie at the manufacturer’s tag. If the store has ripped the tag, they should at least have their own tag with the designer and style number.
A Fee Here a Charge There
Take it from me. Money adds up. $20 here, $40 there can quickly add up to an additional $200 to $400 if you are not careful. Before you do anything, ask them what their alteration fees are so you don’t get slapped with a $200 to $300 alteration charge for just a hem on your wedding dress.
Beware of shipping fees. Oh yeah. Shipping fees. I’m not talking about the fees to ship to your house. No, No. I’m talking about the fee to ship to the bridal shop itself! Oh yeah. I wish they would do that to me. And don’t fall for that “its for insurance” nonsense. They already have to make sure you get an dress in good condition or they have to replace it.
A Fee to Try a Fee to Buy
Some bridal shops have the nerve to make you pay to try on a dress. Oh yeah. Some on a per hour basis. While this cost is deducted when if you buy the dress, it is not good for business. I think brides should be able to shop around without fear of losing money in the process. Gas prices are high enough!
