Honeymoons in Mauritius

Mauritius

Oh Mauritius, what a beautiful site!

Everyone talks about Jamaica, Hawaii, or the Bahamas as a honeymoon spot. What about Mauritius? Mauritius is an island nation located in the southwest part of the Indian Ocean. It is located off the southwest coast of Africa about 560 miles east of Madagascar. It has an average coastal area temp of 71 degrees in the winter and 93 in the summer. Activities include deep sea fishing, golfing and shopping. ( Now if you love deep sea fishing you will love this place.) Almost all the hotels offer wedding packages including the Hilton.

Save on Flights and Hotels - Last-minute Couples Only

Planning your honeymoon two weeks to a month ahead is the last minute. So when I say last-minute do not think you can get up this morning at 7 am and get a deal at 7:01 am. Although it could happen, do not count on it. Last-minute honeymoon discounts are available to those who are..let’s say… reasonably late.

So you can wait, but not too long. As I talked about a few days ago, there are loads of opportunities to save money for the wedding couple who are planning their honeymoon kinda…uh…behind schedule. Here are a few of them.

Marco Island Low-Cost Honeymoon Activities

Marco Island Florida is a beautiful place to have your honeymoon all year round. You can even have your wedding there if you like. If you don’t already know, Marco Island, Florida is located near the Florida everglades on the Gulf of Mexico. It is the largest of Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands. It is only 24 square miles, but is full of life. It is surrounded by uninhabited islands, playful dolphins and other wildlife. The sunsets are beautiful and even the most amatuer photographer can get a halfway decent shot. I know, because I went there on my honeymoon. Here is mine:

If you decide to go, you may want to know which activities are reasonable and affordable in price? These are the things I have found that couples can do for less than $60 per person:

  • Dolphin and Eco- Tours- You can go to http://www.sail-kahuna.com/ecotours.htm for a very unique dolphin tour. You can participate in a dolphin project wherein you get to name the dolphin you successfully photograph if the dolphin has not been documented. Also the ,Calusa Spirit, which sails off in front of the Hilton and the Marriott offers eco-tours wherein you may get a glimpse of dolphins and other wildlife. I did go on the Calusa Spirit eco-tour and saw a glimpse of a pod of dolphins:

  • Airboat Tours- The everglades is full of life including Manatees, alligators, pelicans and many other types of animals. There is an airboat tour that will take you deep inside the mangrove ‘forests’ where you can get a closer look. But this is a wild ride, so be careful. You should hold on for dear life in my honest opinion. One such is place is Speedy Johnson’s Airboat Tours
  • Briggs Nature Center Conservancy- There are many nature trails and tours there. Great for you nature lovers out there. Less than $10 per person
