Inexpensive Wedding Dresses

When I say ‘cheap wedding dress’, I do not mean a gown of low quality. I mean a gown that is of low cost. Of course, this is relatively speaking. Oh, how I wish I knew about Brides Against Breast Cancer when I got married. I did not pay a lot for my wedding dress, but I could have saved a little bit more and helped others at the same time.

Brides Against Breast Cancer from the Making Memories Foundation accepts donations of wedding gowns from brides and manufacturers to help grant the dying wishes of terminally ill patients of breast cancer. It is called the Nationwide Tour of Gowns. They usually tour 32 cities a year and I am sure that figure will increase soon. They go from city to city selling gowns that range in price from under $50 to $799. (Designer gowns could be slightly higher.) And did I forget to tell you? More than 50% of the gowns are brand new. And not only do they have gowns, they have bridal accessories, bridesmaid dresses and mother of the bride gowns.

Wedding dresses that are bought off the rack almost always don’t fit well the first time. Off the rack wedding gowns are destined to have to be altered by a seamstress. Because of this, many brides may decide against it. And it’s not the “most elegant” thing to do either. High society says its a no-no.

Who cares?

Buying a dress off the rack can save your butt when you’ve waited too late to look for your dress. You might have been losing weight or just be an overly picky diva. But whatever your reason, the not so glamorous off the rack wedding dress can save your a$$ and you money. David’s Bridal often has its $99 sale with its off-the-rack wedding gowns. Don’t limit yourslef either. Outlet stores like JC Penny or Sears are another way to go when looking for a just-in-time wedding dress also. JC Penny has a catalog with dresses as low as $99 to $300. Whew!

Also, some bridal salons are often try to get rid of last year’s stock at the beginning of the year so if you are having your wedding in the middle of next year, you might consider waiting.

Why not get a white bridesmaid dress to use as a wedding dress. If you have some sewing skills, you can add some sequins to it or add some other type of flare. Bridesmaid dresses can range from $100 to $200 while wedding dresses can reach they sky. The cheapest most decent wedding dress I have seen was about $400. And that’s pretty cheap. If its cheaper than that, it is usually at a discount.

Of course you can rent one and act like its yours.

You can get a fashion student to sew you one.

You can get a damaged sample dress and fix it… if you know how. (Clean it, of course)

There are many ways to have fairly nice-looking wedding dress without paying the fairly high price for it.
